Our Horsell project stands out as a bold reimagining of a traditional family home. This transformative project began with the complete removal of the original roof, making way for new habitable space on the first floor and reshaping the overall silhouette of the house into something distinctly contemporary.

The external architecture is a statement in itself, with a striking zinc roofline framing a beautifully detailed timber-clad balcony. Crisp white render contrasts against rich red brickwork and copper-toned accents, giving the home an unmistakable modern character that’s a rare sight in suburban Surrey.

Inside, the property underwent a near full refurbishment. The new layout embraces open-plan living, with bright, flowing spaces that bring together modern finishes, warm materials, and thoughtful touches throughout. From the bespoke oak staircase to the skylit bathroom and vaulted master suite, every corner has been meticulously considered.

To complete the transformation, a generous new patio was laid at the rear—perfect for entertaining or relaxing outdoors. The result is a home that’s not only functional but full of individuality and charm.

It was important to us to choose the right builders for our renovation, as we looked to transform our old, characterful but freezing house into our forever family home. As this was our first big project, we needed a team with experience, someone who had done it before and could help us navigate the build over a number of months.
In any building project, there are going to be things that come up that are unexpected. What CJFox did well, was explain the problem or issue, then talk us through possible solutions. We never felt pushed into doing one thing vs. another and we always felt confident that any problem could be fixed.
They have a great team of tradespeople, and we saw every aspect during our work – starting with the demolition crew, through the building phase with electricians, plumbers and tilers to the carpenters and painters that were on site to provide the finishing touches. They were able to recommend suppliers for sourcing windows, bathroom fixtures and fittings and the very important kitchen – all their recommendations were good ones.
